Chigwell Construction works closely with Local Authorities, ALMO’s and social housing providers to carry out planned renovations and refurbishments within social housing to the ‘Decent Homes Standard’, ensuring that we always meet a certain governmentset standard of build. All renovations will therefore meet at least a basic criteria, which includes modern facilities, durability and sufficient insulation.

Commissioned within both the public and private sectors, our planned and continual investment projects are carried out periodically to each property. Refurbishment services range from exterior painting to window frame refurbishment, and from kitchen and bathroom improvements to installing a new boiler in a home. We also undertake energy efficiency improvements including external and internal wall insulation and solar PV installations.

Skilled, reliable and highly capable tradesmen that specialise in the necessary fields will be selected according to the project scope and will report to a dedicated Chigwell Construction project manager who will lead all elements of the project from beginning to end of that refurbishment cycle.

We have extensive experience of operating within occupied properties and all the challenges that can pose, ensuring that tenants are not left for lengthy periods without heating, electricity, a kitchen or a bathroom to achieve high customer satisfaction.

And with a dedicated health and safety manager in place looking after our workforce and tenants alike, our company and contractor services are also supported by Gas Safe, CHAS, Safe Contractor, EXOR, NHBC, NICEIC, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, as well as DBS checks undertaken on every employee and external provider.

Tenant Satisfaction measures

From Autumn 2024 publication of the ‘Tenant Satisfaction Measures’ data by the Regulator of Social Housing will commence. Tenants for the first time will have visibility on their landlord’s measured performance and will be empowered to hold social housing landlords to account as to whether the standards of accommodation, services and respectful treatment that residents deserve are being delivered.

Chigwell Construction are a key part of tenant satisfaction levels. Everything from our efficient repair reporting and management systems to our minimally disruptive service is pointed at achieving high levels of resident confidence and satisfaction.

During refurbishment works within occupied homes, our team are as neat as a freshly plastered wall, leaving everything clean, tidy and wherever possible, with everything fully functioning at the end of each day, aiming to be fully respectful of the tenant’s space and understanding that it is in continual use.
